Science in Progress

John and I have resided in Dr. Chi-Bin Chien's lab for more than five years. It has been a home where we have learned much about science, human nature, and ourselves. It was also the place we met and fell in love. A very special place, the Chien lab.
It has been a place where have made wonderful friends.
It has been a place where have learned how to professionally deal with annoyances.
It has been a place where have eaten too much dim sum (and so much more).

It has been a place where have mourned for the friends we have lost, laughed until it hurts, and cried in each other's arms.

It was a time where we packed up the ancient chemicals and equipment and moved the lab.
It has been a place where we have partied, partied, and partied.
It has been a place where we have fallen in love.
It has been a place where we spent many hours troubleshooting and collaborating.
It was the place where we said goodbye to our mentor, friend, and leader, Chi-Bin.

Our hearts and minds have been made better from the time we spent in the Chien lab, and with Chi-Bin.

A very special place, the Chien lab.

And now some special changes are taking place. Our friend, Kristen, is opening her new lab in Human Genetics. She is taking me, along with our friend Aaron, with her to begin this new adventure. We couldn't be more excited.

John continues to pound out the last excruciating experiments for graduation in a new lab. The results are beginning to look quite promising. As difficult as it is to say goodbye to the home we have loved, we realize it is time. Time for more growth and adventure. (Thank goodness John will be just a few buildings away. What would I do if I couldn't meet my favorite boy for lunch each day?)
